The Latta Vikings defeated Carvers Bay 11-1 in 5 innings in varsity baseball played on Wednesday, March 23, in Latta.
McLeod Carmichael pitched the complete game while striking out 5 and allowed 4 hits in the 1-earned run in the game.
Cribb was credited with the loss while pitching 3 innings and allowing 9 hits, 11 runs of which 8 were earned, walked 2, and struck out 4.
Each team committed 2 errors.
Carvers Bay scored in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Led by Dylan Brewer’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first Latta scored 3 runs to take the lead.
The Vikings continued to add runs by scoring 4 in the bottom of the third inning and 4 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Colby Lee singled in the third to pick up an rbi and tripled in the fourth to pick up 2 rbi. Lee was 2 for 2 at the plate.
Jonathan Ray was also perfect at the plate in his 2 trips as he garnered 2 hits including a double and a rbi.
Dylan Brewer was 1 for 1 at the plate and picked up 4 rbi.
Eric McGirt added a triple in his 3 trips to the plate, and Jackson Williams added a triple in his 2 trips to the plate.
Cledus Williams and Caleb Mishueeach got a single in 2 at-bats.
Latta is now 9-1 for the season and 3-0 in Region 8-A.
Latta is participating in the Cheraw Spring Break Tournament in Cheraw that began yesterday (Monday, March 28).
