A three-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 301 at East Country Club Road in Dillon resulted in one fatality, according to Lance Corporal Judd Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on March 27 at 9:42 a.m. According to Jones, the driver of a 1999 Oldsnobile was headed east on East Country Club Road. The Oldsmobile pulled out and was struck by a 2005 Chrysler driven by Scasha Samuels, age 20, who was traveling south on Highway 301. The Chrysler then went across the road and struck a 2002 Dodge pickup that was in a parking lot.
The driver of the Oldsmobile was transported to McLeod, but died from her injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Coroner Donnie Grimsley identifies the deceased as Rachel Inez Humphrey, age 88, of Hamer.
Jones said Samuels, who was wearing a seatbelt, had minor injuries and the two other passengers in the vehicle had no injuries. The collision remains under investigation.
