Criterion Proclamation

Mayor Pro-Tem Connie Manning presented a proclamation to Criterion Club President Jackie Yates Leach on behalf of Mayor Todd Davis during the Criterion Club 70th Anniversary – Platinum Celebration on November 7, 2015.  Mayor Todd Davis has proclaimed Criterion Club Day will be observed on November 28, 2015.

CITY OF DILLON,
SOUTH CAROLINA
Whereas, The Criterion Club is a non-profit organization which operates a center to provide wholesome recreation and community activities for the children and adults of Dillon County and surrounding areas.
Whereas, Seventy years ago on November 28, 1945, at the home of Mrs. Adeline McBride five concerned ladies met to organize a literary and social club.
Whereas, the first officers elected were:  Mrs. H. L. Perry – President, Mrs. Adeline McBride – Vice President, Miss Maggie Wingate, Secretary, Miss Lavall Hughes – Treasurer, and Miss Mary Blue, Librarian.
Whereas, the Criterion Club sponsors annual events including, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast, Debutante Cotillion, Youth Summer Camp, Youth Christmas Cantata, Christmas Gala and numerous other community programs.
Whereas, the 2015 observance of “Criterion Club Day” provides a unique opportunity for the citizens of Dillon, South Carolina to join together in appreciation of the many contributions made by The Criterion Club as their motto states “Let Every Woman Do Her Duty”.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Todd Davis, Mayor of the Dillon, South Carolina, do hereby proclaim November 28, 2015 as Criterion Club Day and encourage all citizens to recognize the positive impact The Criterion Club has on the quality of life of the Citizens of Dillon County.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the official seal of the City of Dillon, South Carolina to be affixed at Dillon County on this day of November 7, 2015.
