McLeod Medical Center Dillon is pleased to announce that Elaine McElveen, RN, has been named Director of the Hospitalist Program.  In her new role, Elaine will also oversee the case management department.
“Hospitalists and Case Managers are vitally important in healthcare today and play an essential role in hospitals and health systems,” said Elaine. “These clinicians are responsible for ensuring that patient care is delivered appropriately to every patient.  Collaborative partnerships with physicians and case management promote cost-effective care through support of decision-making, promoting care progression and care coordination.” Elaine began her nursing career in 1994.
She worked for the McLeod Health system for 28 years in a variety of capacities including Revenue Cycle, Medical/Surgical Nurse, and Corporate Compliance Integrity Audit Manager at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.  Most recently, Elaine worked at Clarendon Health System where she has served as the Revenue Cycle Director, Corporate Compliance Officer, and 340B Coordinator. While at Clarendon, she was instrumental in the establishment of the Clinical Documentation Specialist program and the Transitional Care/Swing Bed Unit.
Elaine chose a career at McLeod Health because of the organization’s dedication to improving the health of the residents in the communities. “McLeod Dillon follows McLeod Health’s model of quality and has the advantage of being a facility that is part of the McLeod Health system,” said Elaine.  “The individualized patient-centered care and quality in Dillon reflects McLeod Health’s Values.”
Elaine looks forward to serving the patients of Dillon.  “I grew up in a small town in lower Florence County and have always felt a connection to Dillon,” said Elaine. “My Grandfather was from Dillon, and I have childhood memories of visiting the area and attending family reunions.”
