JACKSONVILLE, FL—Mrs. Texas International, Farabe’ Algor, 30, of Frisco, was crowned Mrs. International 2015, recently at the 30th Annual Mrs. International Pageant held in Jacksonville, Florida.
The two-hour event, held at the Moran Theater at the Times Union Center for Performing Arts, featured 65 contestants from around the world competing in three categories, including interview, fitness-wear and evening gown. Algor was crowned Mrs. International by her husband, Justin, before a sold-out audience.
Celebrating its 30th year, the Mrs. International Pageant System is platform-focused, with each contestants’ overall score based on the platform interviews. Throughout her reign as Mrs. International 2015, Algor will focus on raising awareness about veterans’ issues through her organization Beyond Glory – Supporting Our Veterans. “My husband served in Iraq where he suffered a traumatic brain injury,” said Algor. “When he came back from his service, the compassion he had for helping his fellow vets really lit a fire under me and that’s when I began my mission to serve veterans – not only in the United States – but around the world.”
Algor’s newly formed “Beyond Glory – Supporting our Veterans” organization will connect veterans and their families with existing programs and services to address their specific needs, work with veteran’s employment groups and corporations to reduce the number of unemployed veterans, and advocate through veterans organizations for reducing processing time for veteran claims. Additionally, Algor will partner with organizations such as Heroes on the Water and 22Kill to support their missions through fundraising events, awareness and volunteer support.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to support my husband and his fellow veterans with the many resources available to me through my new International Pageants family,” said Algor. “I’m so honored to represent the International Pageants system as Mrs. International 2015 and I know it’s going to be an awesome year!”
In addition to supporting veterans’ causes, Algor volunteers for the American Heart Association’s, Go Red for Women program, for which International Pageants is a national partner, as well as United Way and her church.
Algor is a dedicated wife and mother of three young children and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education from Coastal Carolina University. In her spare time, you’ll find her enjoying time with her family, water sports, sewing and reading.
“One of the things I value most about the International Pageants system is that it’s a family system and my husband and my children are a welcome part of my new duties as Mrs. International,” said Algor. “I’m excited to be able to share this role and the experiences this year will bring with the people who mean the most to me.”
The Mrs. International Pageant is the only platform- based system and is owned and operated by International Pageants, Inc., which also operates the Miss International and Miss Teen International competitions. Mrs. International showcases married women 21 to 56-years-old and includes their husbands as an integral part of the event. For more information visit www.mrsinternational.com/.
