There was much celebrating going on following the Latta Vikings 6-4 state championship win over the Lewisville Lions on Friday, May, 22, 2015.

One large group that stood out was the family of Mr. Willie Snipes. Willie was a member of the Latta High School baseball team that won the state title in 1966, also with a score of 6-4. Snipes played short stop and pitcher and pitched in game two of the 1966 series.

He was understandably proud of his grandson, Austin Miller, who played first base for the 2015 state champ Vikings team. Willie’s brother, Harold Snipes, is the grandfather of Latta’s third baseman Caleb Mishue. These pictures tell the story.
