Florence Post 1 defeated Georgetown and Whiteville last week in American Legion baseball action.
On Monday, June 8, Post 1 earned a 13-3 run-rule victory over Georgetown in seven innings.
Patrick Lovelace started on the mound for two hits, three runs, four walks, and four outs in four and a third innings. Eric Dubose pitched two and two-thirds innings of relief with one hit, one walk, and one out for the win.
Latta’s Jackson Williams went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, and three RBI in the win; Lake View’s Weston Rogers went 3-for-5 with two doubles; Dillon’s Patrick Herring went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI; and West Florence’s Grayson Cottingham went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
After rain washed out the second game on Tuesday, Post 1 traveled to Pawley’s Island on Wednesday night for a 12-0 win over Georgetown in seven innings.
Weston Rogers got the win, pitching five innings for just one hit and two walks, striking out six.
Steven Calcutt hit a grand slam in the win and Ke’Shaun Samuel had five RBI with three hits to lead Post 1. Cottingham had two hits in the win, and Melquan Depugh and Lindsey Robinson each added two hits for Florence.
The third game in the series was set for Thursday, but heavy rain forced a delay with Florence leading 2-0 in the top of the second inning.
On Friday, Post 1 traveled to Whiteville, North Carolina, for an 8-3 win.
Kam Dixon earned the win, pitching five and a third innings for two hits, one unearned run, one walk, and seven outs.
Williams had three hits and one RBI to lead at bat; Cottingham added three hits; and Samuel went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
With the week’s games, Post 1 improved to 11-1 overall and 8-0 in their conference. Post 1 was scheduled to play Murrells Inlet on Monday night at Socastee High School.
