The Dillon Christian School Warriors traveled to Robert E. Lee Academy on Monday, April 27, and were eliminated in the first round of the SCHSL Class 2A baseball playoffs.

The Warriors fell 15-0 in game one as the Cavaliers picked up one run in the first, five in the second, two in the third, and seven in the fourth to seal the win.

Landry Collins took the loss on the mound, pitching two and one third innings for three hits, eight runs, two earned runs, two walks, one hit by pitch, and four outs. John Rourke pitched a third of an inning for two hits, seven runs, one earned run, three hit by pitch, and one walk, and Connor Hamilton pitched a third of an inning for one hit by pitch.

At bat, Jake Boykin went 2-for-2 with a double; Garret Collins reached on a walk; Thomas Evans reached on an error; and Ellison Rourke had one stolen base. In the field, Isaac Hendrix made four assists, and several Warriors combined for six put outs and two errors.

The Cavaliers had five doubles and a triple in the win.

In game two, the Warriors fell 17-7 with the Cavaliers getting two runs in the bottom of the first and nine in the third for an 11-0 lead. The Warriors picked up three runs in the top of the fourth, but the Cavaliers added three in the bottom of the inning to keep ahead 14-3. Dillon Christian rallied for four more run in the top of the fifth, but the Cavaliers sealed the win with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Nick Smith took the loss on the mound for the Warriors, pitching 2.1 innings for two hits, six runs, and three walks. Thomas Evans pitched one and a third innings for three hits, five runs, one earned run, and three walks; Ross Carlyle pitched a third of an inning for one hit, three runs, two walks, and one out; and Ellison Rourke pitched one inning for three hits, three runs, one earned run, and one walk.

At bat for the Warriors, Thomas Evans went 1-for-2 for a double with one RBI and two runs scored, also reaching on a walk; Landry Collins went 1-for-2 with two runs, also reaching on a walk and getting a fielder’s choice hit; Ellison Rourke went 1-for-3 with a stolen base; Connor Hamilton went 1-for-3 with one run scored and one stolen base, also getting a fielder’s choice; Ethan Shackelford scored one run on two walks with a stolen base; John Rourke picked up one RBI on a sacrifice fly; Jake Boykin drew a walk and also reached on an error; and Ross Carlyle hit into a fielder’s choice.

Landry Collins made three assists in the field, and Garrett Collins and Thomas Evans made one each. Hamilton made four put outs; Shackelford, 3; Smith, 2; and Ellison Rourke and Garrett Collins made one each. The Warriors had seven errors in the effort.

The Warriors wrapped up their season with a 4-9-3 record.
