Lake View’s Wild Gators shut out Marion 10-0 in a no-hitter on Friday night in varsity baseball action in Marion.

The Gators scored two runs in the top of the first inning and picked up one each in the second, third, and fourth for a 5-0 lead. Lake View sealed the win with five runs in the sixth inning of the non-conference game.

Carson Rogers and Josh Price split the pitching duties with three innings each for no hits and no walks. Rogers struck out four and Price struck out seven in the win. For Marion, Ronnie King pitched five and a third innings for seven hits, nine runs, three earned runs, four walks, one wild pitch, and three hit by pitch, with two outs. Z. Shelley pitched two-thirds of an inning for two hits, one run, and one out.

At bat for the Gators, Brent Herlong went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and one run scored, also making a sacrifice hit; Nick Collins went 2-for-3 with three runs and also reached on a hit by pitch; Josh Price went 2-for-4 with two runs and also reached on an error; Justin Elliott went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run scored, also reaching on a walk; Hunter Stevens scored one run and reached on an error; Carson Rogers went 1-for-2 with one run and one walk, also reaching on a hit by pitch; Weston Rogers reached on a hit by pitch; Luc Newell scored one run with a stolen base and one RBI and reached on a walk and an error and hit a sacrifice fly; and De’Ante Bridgett went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and also reached on a walk.

Lake View improved to 18-5 in the regular season and finished second in Region 8-A with an 8-2 record.

Lake View will host Timmonsville on Thursday night in the first round of the Class A District V baseball playoffs. The Whirlwinds finished third in Region 7-A.
