Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators took a loss from the Dillon’s Class 2A Lady Wildcats last week but earned a 13-2 win over Florence Christian on Thursday night in varsity softball action.

The Lady Gators fell to 4-0 to the Lady Wildcats on Wednesday night, with Ally Spivey getting the only hit for Lake View and Marissa Tyndall taking the loss on the mound.

On Thursday, Lake View earned a 13-2 win over the Florence Christian Eagles in five innings in Florence.

Lake View opened the game with two runs, but the Eagles scored one runner in the bottom of the first to cut the Gator lead to 2-1. After a scoreless second inning, Lake View broke loose for five runs in the third. The Eagles scored again in the bottom of the inning to trail 7-2. But the Gators picked up six runs in the top of the fourth to claim the 13-2 win, holding off the Eagles through the final inning.

Ally Spivey got the win on the mound, pitching all five innings for six hits, two runs, two earned runs, and one walk, striking out four. Brooke Brown took the loss for Florence Christian, pitching three innings for four hits, seven runs, four earned runs, three walks, and two outs.

Marissa Tyndall led the Gators at bat, going 2-for-2 for two home runs and five RBI. Kayla Page also went 2-for-2 with one RBI. Lake View had seven hits in the win.

Brown led Florence Christian at bat, going 2-for-3. The Eagles had six hits and five errors in the effort.

Lake View improved to 2-1 in the regular season.

The Lady Gators were scheduled to host Creek Bridge in a double header on Friday and will be at Hannah-Pamplico this Thursday, March 19, at 5:30 p.m.
