Dillon’s Lady Wildcats tore through Loris’s Lady Lions on Monday night for a 70-18 win in girls varsity basketball action.

The Lady Cats took a 30-4 lead in the first quarter and were ahead 39-6 at the half. Loris rallied for 11 points in the third, but the Wildcats added 18 in the period and capped the win with a 13-1 fourth quarter.

Tejah Breeden led the Wildcat attack with 21 points and Da’Kerhia Samuel added 13 in the win. Kendra McLeod earned 9 points; Khamele Manning, 7; Jelissa Fentzlaff, 6; Adriana McCollum, 6; Shimya Sowells, 3; Yolanda Campbell, 2; Shar’Asia Samuel, 2; and Cali McRae, 1.

Loris was led by Myia Bellamy with seven points. Keioshya Davis added 4; Ikela Green, 3; Jenna Keel, 3; and Lanise Harris, 1. Harris also grabbed 13 rebounds with three blocks in the effort, and Keel picked up seven rebounds with two blocks.

Dillon improved to 19-3 overall and 8-1 in Region 8-2A while Loris remained winless in conference action.

The Lady Wildcats were scheduled to host Waccamaw on Wednesday night and will likely play a tiebreaker game against Mullins on Friday night to determine the region title. Both teams are 8-1 in the region heading into Wednesday’s games.

The Class AA girls basketball playoffs are set to begin on Tuesday, February 17, with the top two teams from Region 8-2A hosting the third and fourth place teams from Region 7.

UPDATE: Dillon defeated Waccamaw 52-28 on Wednesday night, and Mullins defeated Marion 62-25. The Lady Wildcats will play Mullins tonight at Loris to determine the region title.
