The Latta Vikings earned a 61-50 win over the Creek Bridge Warriors on the road on Friday night in boys varsity basketball action.
Latta was led by Tyreik McAllister and Diez Mungro who each scored 11 points in the win. Kartilus McFadden added 10 points; TyQuan Porter, 7; Jordan Sims, 7; Eric McGirt, 5; Kel Williamson, 4; Justin Hall, 2; Cha’Keem Blake, 2; and Damien Braddy, 1.
Latta improved to 10-4 overall and remained undefeated in Region 8-A with a 6-0 record.
The Vikings were ranked fourth in the state in recent Class A basketball polls, and first year head coach Chris German is pushing them hard to reach their first region title since 2002. German was a part of the last boys state championship team in 2001.
The Vikings will be at home tonight to host Lake View and on Friday to host Green Sea Floyds, with game times set for 6:00 p.m. Latta defeated both teams soundly in their first encounter, downing the Gators 66-48 in the conference opener and defeating the Trojans 70-48. Next week, the Vikings will wrap up the regular season on the road, traveling to Carvers Bay on Tuesday and Hemingway on Thursday. The Carvers Bay Bears are second in the region with a 4-2 record.
