Tis the season to be jolly, but it is also the season for holiday scams.
This is a reminder to safeguard your personal and financial information this holiday season.
If you shop online, shop from secure sites, use different passwords, and track your orders. Be sure to read the fine print.
Don’t fall for scam sweepstakes and lotteries. Absolutely do not send money or a fee to collect a prize.
Watch out what charities and organizations that you contribute your money to here at the end of the year. Check out charities with the Secretary of State’s office. Request information in writing. Be leery of contributing by telephone, but if you do, ask a lot of questions. Some mail may look official and legitimate, but may be no more than a way for a con artist to get your money.
Be thoughtful this holiday season before handing out your personal information or your money
