The first annual Magnolia Cemetery Luminary Service was held December 13, 2014, to remember the loved ones who have passed away in the past year.
The service was designed to honor the memories and lives of the ones who have gone on before us by worship, lighting of candles, and reading the names of the people buried this past year in the cemetery. Candles were lit in the cemetery and the families had an opportunity to place personal luminaries on the graves.
The Luminary Service was held in the Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel.
The service opened with a Word of Prayer given by Christopher H. Daniels, the Minister, Grief Counselor, and Funeral Director Apprentice at Kannaday Funeral Home.
The Message of Legacy was presented by Mr. Derick Weatherford, former football player for University of Tennessee.
The Message of Hope in the Resurrection was presented by Rev. Johnnie Hyatt of Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church of Temperance Hill Community.
The Message of Comfort was presented by Rev. Dr. Buddy Bach of Latta and Kentyre Presbyterian Church. Music was led by Mr. Lavern Brigman.
The Reading of Names was presented by Ryan L. Kannaday, Jr. and the service was concluded by lighting personal luminaries.
After the service people were able walk and drive through the cemetery that contained several hundred luminaries.
