The Dillon Christian School Warriors battled the Carolina Academy Bobcats in the season opener of the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball season on Tuesday, November 25.

In girls varsity action, the Lady Warriors fell 59-20 to the Lady Bobcats as Carolina Academy took a 17-4 lead in the first quarter. The Bobcats went 11-3 in the second quarter to lead 28-7 at the half, and outscored Dillon Christian 21-13 in the second half to seal the win.

Samantha Carpenter led the Lady Warriors in the effort, with Jamie Carpenter adding four points and Emilee Martin scoring three.

Hannah Weaver lead Carolina Academy with a game-high 16 points with 13 rebounds and four steals. Ally Gaskins earned 15 points for the Bobcats; Heidi Matthews, 11; Candace Morris, 8; Lydia Durant, 5; and Maggie Prosser, 2.

In boys action, the Warriors battled the Bobcats to a 26-26 tie, forcing the game into overtime where the Warriors fell 33-26.

Both Warrior teams open the season with an 0-1 record as Carolina Academy gets off to a 1-0 start.

The Warriors were scheduled to travel to face Robert E. Lee Academy on Tuesday night and will host The King’s Academy this Friday, December 5, with junior varsity action beginning at 4:00 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
