Dillon County Recreation’s 9- & 10-year-old and 11- and 12-year-old football teams played in district championship games on Monday night in Florence.

Dillon’s 9-10 finished as the district runner-up as they fell 8-6 to Florence. Nigel George scored Dillon’s lone touchdown on a 60-yard run with 2:13 left in the game.

Dillon’s 11-12 team claimed the district title with a 28-14 win over Florence. Dillon scored first on a long run in the first quarter and added two-points on the conversion. In the second, Dillon scored on a 78-yard touchdown pass and a successful conversion gave them a 16-0 lead at the half.

Florence scored early in the third, but Dillon struck again on a touchdown run for a 22-8 lead. Dillon added their final touchdown on a 42-yard run for a 28-8 lead at the end of the third. Florence’s final touchdown came in the fourth quarter.

Dillon’s 11 & 12 will play for the Lower State title this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Dillon.
