Latta swimmer Joanne Bethea competed in the 2014 SCHSL Class 3A Swim Championship Meet in mid-October, finishing with 22 points.
The Class 3A championship included competitors from Class A, 2A, and 3A schools. Bethea was the only Latta swimmer competing in the championship, leaving the team total at 22 to finish 22nd in the state.
Bethea, a sophomore, finished 11th in the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.37. She also finished 11th in the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle, earning a time of 58.15.
Hilton Head won the girls team competition with 422 points, with Academic magnet in second with 292, A.C. Flora in third with 279.50. Bishop England finished in fourth with 223 points, and Myrtle Beach in fifth with 219.
In the boys meet, Christ Church finished first with 365 points, with Academic Magnet in second with 331.50 and Eastside in third with 251.50. Dreher earned 248 four fourth place and Hilton Head earned 218 for fifth. Waccamaw finished sixth with 212.
