To The Editor:
I read with great interest fellow writer Michael Goings’ article entitled The Rod, The Switch, and Corporal Punishment. All I have to say is Rev., you hit that nail square on the head. The difference between you and me was my mother handed out the discipline at our house. She was the master of the hedge switch, she could make you do dances that have not even been thought of yet. She never abused me, she just tore my bare legs up. She never gave me a whipping I didn’t need, and I probably missed some that I needed. I am convinced that if there were more good old-fashioned whippings today, we would have a lot less people in prison than we have. Good Job!
