The Latta Vikings took a 48-6 loss from McBee at home on Friday night in varsity football action.

Latta kicked off to McBee to open the game and got on the board first with a defensive touchdown with about 10 minutes to go in the first quarter. But the PAT missed, and that would be the only time the Vikings scored for the rest of the night.

With two minutes to go in the first, Latta was inside McBee’s 20, but McBee rallied and scored a defensive touchdown with less than a minute on the clock. The extra point was good, giving McBee a 7-6 lead and the end of the quarter.

With about seven minutes to go in the half, McBee scored on a rushing touchdown and kicked in the extra point for a 14-6 lead. McBee struck again in the third with nine minutes on the clock, scoring another defensive touchdown. The extra point gave them a 21-6 lead, and moments later, they struck again on a rushing touchdown for a 27-6 lead. Latta couldn’t build any momentum against the Panthers, and with four minutes left the in quarter, McBee found the end zone again on a rushing touchdown and rushed for a two-point conversion, putting them up 35-6 at the end of three.

With 11 minutes left in the game, McBee rushed for another touchdown, and with less than a minute on the clock, the Panthers rushed for their second touchdown of the quarter. The extra point was good for a final score of 48-6.

McBee improved to 4-1 while Latta slips to 0-4 in the regular season.

Latta will be on the road this week to face East Clarendon at 7:30 p.m.

The Wolverines are 2-2 so far this season, with a 30-12 win over Green Sea-Floyds and 30-20 win over Camden Military and losses from North Central, 28-6, and McBee, 40-8.
