The Glove and Trowel Garden Club does not meet during the summer months of June, July, and August, but members have been active in many activities such as placing an arrangement in Dunbar Library in observance of National Garden Week June 1 – 7; 2014.
Two members attended the President’s Fair held at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Columbia on June 14 to receive current information to help us prepare our programs and other events for the coming year. We are locating Historic Trees for our State Project, and some members made flower arrangements for the Antique Appraisal Fair held on August 2, 2014 at the Dillon Wellness Center. Members of the yearbook committee met and planned programs for our new year beginning in September . Cleaning the Carolina Fence Garden located at the I-95 SC Welcome Center is a project done on a rotation system with the Dillon Garden Club and the Yellow Jessamine Garden Club. Our months for cleaning/weeding the Fence Garden are May, August, and November. We are looking forward to our first meeting to be held on Wednesday, September 10 at 3 PM at the Dillon Wellness Center with Dawn Arnette as Hostess, and Julie Sawyer as Program Chairman.
We are members of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., the South Atlantic Region, The Garden Club of South Carolina Inc., and the Coastal District of GCSC.
