Dear Editor:
I am sending this letter to express how much I appreciate The Herald for becoming more inclusive in your coverage.
For years, I would read your paper without seeing hardly any black representation. This to me did not seem right especially based on the African-American percentage of Dillon’s population as well as your constituency.
However, I have been reading many of the articles that were written by Rev. Michael Goings. I have indeed been both enlightened and encouraged by some of his articles and look forward to what he is going to write next. Though, I do not always agree with everything he says, as an African-American, I am thankful for the way he challenges me in certain areas and makes me think. I truly admire his boldness and willingness to address issues that so many others in his position either shun or ignore.
Once again, I want to say thank you for adding some color to your staff of columnists and especially the one you have selected. I believe that I speak for many others in the African-American community (as well as the community at large) when I say that now we feel like The Dillon Herald is not just a white newspaper, but ours as well.
Humbly submitted,
Willie Williamson

Dear Editor:
Whenever I read the headline of the November 14th issue of The Dillon Herald about Hardee’s coming to Latta, I was overcome with joy and sadness at the same time.
