With the baseball and softball seasons over, here’s a look at how some of the top players from our local teams fared in 2014.

BASEBALL
Latta Vikings

Donell Stanley led the Vikings at bat with 31 hits and an average of .508. Stanley had six double, four home runs, and 27 RBI in his senior year with the Vikings.

Josh Bowen had 24 hits and a .407 average, and Colby Lee, Jeremy Jenkins, and John Kever Love each had six doubles. Love also had 26 RBI for Latta, and Jackson Williams had 21. Christian Hendrix added five doubles for the Vikings and had 20 RBI.

On the mound, Hendrix pitched 48.3 innings for seven wins while striking out 60. Travis Power pitched 39.6 innings for seven wins and 52 outs, and Love pitched 36 innings for 51 outs.

Lake View Wild Gators

Weston Rogers had 25 hits for a .410 average with 19 stolen bases and six doubles, and Josh Price had 10 doubles, two home runs, 11 stolen bases, and 26 RBIs to help lead Lake View this season.

On the mound, Carson Rogers pitched 51.6 innings for six wins and an ERA of 0.81, and Weston Rogers pitched 48.6 innings for six wins and a 1.96 ERA. Josh Price pitched 39.3 innings with a 1.96 ERA. Carson Rogers struck out 68 batters, while Weston Rogers struck out 64 and Price struck out 40.

Dillon Wildcats

Weston Bailey helped lead the Wildcats at bat with 29 hits and a .547 average, including three home runs. Bailey picked up 26 RBI and stole 21 bases for the Wildcats in his senior year. On the mound for Dillon, Bailey pitched 39 innings and struck out 53 batters.

Patrick Herring had 30 hits for a .439 average with 25 RBI and 13 stolen bases; Duncan Callahan had 24 hits for a .452 average with 20 RBI and 12 stolen bases; Omar McCollum had 19 hits with a .452 average; Joseph Scott had 16 hits with a .452 average; and Ethan Hayes had 18 hits for .438 average.

Austin Moody picked up 19 RBI, Jarvis Graves had 14 stolen bases, and Kaleb Page stole 11 bases.

SOFTBALL
Latta Vikings

Madison Owens led the Lady Vikings at bat with 44 hits for a .564 average, with seven doubles, seven triples, two home runs, 30 RBI, and 15 stolen bases.

Macy Hyatt had 34 hits for a .540 average, with 11 doubles, two home runs, and 31 RBI. Dori Webster had 39 hits and a .520 average with a team-high 37 RBI. Camryn Sawyer had 34 hits for a .400 average and hit six doubles for Latta.

On the mound for the Vikings, Anna Rogers pitched 130 innings for 18 wins and a 1.72 ERA. She struck out 204 batters in her senior year.

Lake View Wild Gators

Lake View’s Morgan Herlong got 38 hits this season for a .494 average and 17 RBI. Marissa Tyndall had 34 hits and a .466 average with seven doubles and 23 RBI; Ally Spivey had 31 hits for a .431 average, six doubles, and 24 RBI; and Ashley Rogers had 27 hits with a .386 average, four triples, two home runs, and 29 RBI. Amber Locklear picked up 19 RBI at bat for the Lady Gators.

Jasmine Ford had 13 stolen bases this season, and Madison Matthews stole 10.

On the mound for the Lady Gators, Marissa Tyndall pitched 101 innings for 10 wins and a 1.04 ERA, and Morgan Herlong pitched 75 innings for eight wins and a 2.61 ERA. Tyndall struck out 99 batters and Herlong struck out 56.

Dillon Wildcats

Shayna Covington led the Lady Wildcats at bat with 60 hits and a .556 average and stole 31 bases for Dillon. Tara Grimsley had 50 hits for a .505 average with 22 doubles, three triples, and two home runs for a team-high 49 RBI.

Rebecca Callahan had 44 hits for a .489 average with 13 doubles, 30 RBI, and 12 stolen bases; Shaquailla German had 38 hits for a .452 average with 12 doubles, four home runs, and 38 RBI; Erin Bailey had 37 hits for a .394 average with four home runs and 27 RBI; Da’Kerhia Samuel had 34 hits for a .410 average with 22 RBI; Auh’keria Smiling had 27 hits for a .482 average with seven doubles, 17 RBI, and 14 stolen bases; Shar’Asia Samuel hit three triples for the Lady Wildcats with 11 stolen bases.

On the mound, German pitched 85 innings for 12 wins and a 1.73 ERA, and Taylor Price pitched 76 innings for 10 wins and a 1.57 ERA. German struck out 40 on the way to Dillon’s first state softball championship.
