Lake View’s Wild Gators claimed third place in Region 8-A on Tuesday night with a 4-2 win over Hannah-Pamplico in varsity baseball action.

The Raiders scored their first run in the top of the first inning but Lake View’s Josh Price tripled in the bottom of the inning and was scored by a double from Luc Newell to tie the game 1-1. Neither team could score again until the top of the fourth, when Hannah-Pamplico’s Cooper singled and scored on a double from Pilotte.

Lake View’s Luc Newell led off the bottom of the fourth with a single and he and Justin Elliott advanced on an error. Brent Herlong singled to score Newell, and Roger Scott singled to advance Elliott and Herlong. Hunter Stevens flew out and Duane Nichols struck out, but Carson Rogers singled to score Elliott, and Brent Herlong scored on a passed ball to put the Gators ahead 4-2.

The Gators could only reach base on a walk in their last two innings, but Lake View held the Raiders to just two hits in their last three to retain the 4-2 win.

Carson Rogers earned the win on the mound for Lake View, pitching a complete game and facing 29 batters for six hits, three walks, two runs, and one earned run while striking out seven. Hannah-Pamplico’s Cooper took the loss on the mound, pitching six innings and facing 26 batters for seven hits, four runs, two earned runs, one walk, and one out.

At bat for Lake View, Carson Rogers went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI; Luc Newell went 2-for-2 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored; Brent Herlong went 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored; Josh Price went 1-for-2 with a triple and one run scored; Roger scott went 1-for-3; and Justin Elliott scored one run. The Gators had seven hits and one error in the win.

At bat for Hannah-Pamplico, Cooper went 2-for0-3 with one run scored; Nick Pilotte went 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI; Tanguay went 1-for-2 with one RBI; Welch went 1-for-3; and Martin scored one run on a walk. The Raiders had a total of six hits and one error in the effort.

The Wild Gators improved to 10-3 overall and 6-3 in Region 8-A for third place in the Region. Latta finished in first place at 8-1 and Johnsonville finished in second. Hannah-Pamplico is in fourth.

Lake View is set to travel to Latta on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Gators are scheduled to wrap up their regular season on Monday at South Robeson at 6:00 p.m.
