The Lake View Wild Gators earned a 3-2 win over Green Sea-Floyds on Wednesday night in varsity baseball action.

The Gators scored their first run in the top of the third but the Trojans answered with their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 1-1. In the fourth, Roger Scott singled, advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Hunter Stevens, and scored on a single from Duane Nichols to put Lake View up 2-1. But Green Sea’s Miles reached on a hit by pitch and was brought in by a single from Cains to tie the game again at 2-2.

Neither team could score through the next three innings, though Lake View had runners advance all the way to third in each inning. In the top of the eighth, Duane Nichols singled to reach first and advanced on a double from Weston Rogers. Luc Newell hit a sacrifice fly to score Nichols to give the Gators the 3-2 win. Green Sea-Floyds had a chance to tie in the bottom of the inning when Brown reached on a walk and advanced to third, but Strickland struck out to end the game.

Lake View’s Weston Rogers and Carson Rogers each pitched four innings for the Wild Gators in the win. Weston Rogers faced 22 batters for seven hits, two runs, two earned runs, and two walks, striking out nine. CArson Rogers faced 16 batters for two hits, two walks, and seven outs.

Faulk took the loss for Green Sea-Floyds, pitching eight innings and facing 41 batters for 11 hits, three runs, two earned runs, three walks, and seven outs.

At bat for Lake View, Josh Price went 2-for-3 with a double; Roger Scott went 2-for-3 with one run scored; Duane Nichols went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored; Weston Rogers went 1-for-4 with a double and one run; Justin Elliott went 1-for-3 with a double; Hunter Stevens went 1-for-3; Brent Herlong went 1-for-4; Carson Rogers went 1-for-4; and Luc Newell picked up one RBI on a sacrifice fly. Lake View had 11 hits in the win.

At bat for the Trojans, Faulk went 2-for-4; Brown went 2-for-3 with one RBI; Miles went 1-for-3 with one run scored; Milligan went 1-for-2 with one run; Cains went 1-for-3 with one RBI; Upchurch was 1-for-4; and Strickland was 1-for-5.

Lake View improved to 8-2 overall in the regular season and 5-3 in Region 8-A. Latta earned the region title already and Johnsonville has claimed second, with Lake View in third and Hannah-Pamplico in fourth.

The Wild Gators are scheduled to host Hannah-Pamplico tonight at 5:30 and will be at Latta on Friday at 5:30 p.m. to wrap up region play. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
