The Lake View Wild Gators earned a 7-3 win over the Raiders in Hannah-Pamplico on Friday night in varsity baseball action.
Lake View picked up four runners in the first inning, with Carson Rogers and Luc Newell reaching on errors, Weston Rogers singling, and Josh Price hitting into a fielder’s choice. Justin Elliott singled to pick up Rogers and Price and Hunter Stevens singled to bring in Newell.
The Raiders went three up, three out in the bottom of the inning and held off Lake View in the top of the second. But Hannah-Pamplico’s Tanguay singled to start off the bottom of the inning and advanced on errors to score. Pilotte reached on an error and made it to third on a single from Tanner, but Bazen flew out to end the threat.
Hannah-Pamplico held the Gators off through the third and fourth, and in the bottom of the fourth, Pilotte reached on a walk and Tanner singled, with Martin hitting a single to score them both and leave the Raiders trailing 4-3.
Lake View’s Carson Rogers reached on an error in the top of the fifth and Weston Rogers singled. Josh Price doubled to score them both, and Brent Herlong hit a sacrifice fly to score Price for three runs and a 7-3 lead.
With the exception of a walk in the bottom of the sixth, the Gators held the Raiders off for the rest of the game to seal the win. Lake View couldn’t quite reach home again either, though Carson Rogers hit a double in the top of the sixth and Justin Elliott singled in the seventh and advanced all the way to third before Herlong was tagged out to end the game.
On the mound for the Gators, Weston Rogers pitched four innings and faced 21 batters for four hits, three runs, two earned runs, three walks, and three outs. Carson Rogers pitched three innings and faced 11 batters for one hit, one walk, and three outs. Tanguay took the loss for Hannah-Pamplico, pitching seven innings and facing 33 batters for eight hits, seven runs, three earned runs, one walk, and five outs.
At bat for the Gators, Justin Elliott went 2-for-4 with two RBI; Weston Rogers went 2-for-4 with two runs scored; Josh Price went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored; Carson Rogers went 1-for-4 with a double and one run scored; Hunter Stevens and Stone Spivey each went 1-for-3 with Stevens picking up one RBI; Luc Newell scored one run; and Brent Herlong picked up one RBI on a sacrifice fly.
At bat for the Raiders, Tanguay and Tanner each went 2-for-3 with one run scored; Martin went 1-for-3 with two RBI; and Pilotte scored one run.
Lake View improved to 7-2 overall and 2-2 in Region 8-A.
The Wild Gators will be away at Marion on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. but will be back home on Thursday to host Johnsonville at 5:30. Make plans to attend!
