Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators earned wins over Carver’s Bay and Green Sea-Floyds at home last week in varsity softball action.
In Wednesday’s game against Carver’s Bay, the Lady Gators shut out the Lady Bears 10-0 in five innings. Lake View scored six of their runs in the bottom of the third and capped the win with four in the fifth.
Morgan Herlong got the win on the mound for Lake View, pitching all five innings for four hits, two walks, and eight outs. Haley Haselden took the loss for Carver’s Bay, pitching five innings for 12 hits, 10 runs, seven earned runs, and three walks, striking out four.
Lake View was led at bat by Madison Greene, 2-for-3 with two RBI; Morgan Herlong, 3-for-4; and Logan Spivey, 2-for-3. Lake View had 12 hits and one error in the win.
For the Bears, Kinsey Cannon went 1-for-2 and Brianna Williams went 1-for-3. Carver’s Bay had four hits and two errors in the effort.
On Friday, the Lady Gators opened region play, hosting Green Sea-Floyds for a 4-3 win over the Trojans. Both teams added a run in the first and third innings for a 2-2 tie heading into the top of the fourth. Lake View pulled ahead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, and held the Lady Trojans to just one run in the top of the sixth to claim the win.
Marissa Tyndall got the win for Lake View, pitching all seven innings for nine hits, six runs, and a walk, striking out three. Harley Berry took the loss on the mound, pitching six innings for 12 hits, four runs, two earned runs, three walks, and two outs.
Ally Spivey went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead Lake View at bat, and Ashley Rogers went 2-for-3 with Marissa Tyndall adding two hits for the Lady Gators. Lake View had 12 hits and four errors in the win.
Kay Hutchinson went 2-for-4 to lead Green Sea, and T. Sadler went 2-for-3. The Trojans had nine hits and one error in the effort.
Lake View improved to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in Region 8-A.
The Lady Gators will be on the road this week to take on Carver’s Bay at home on Thursday. Next Tuesday, March 25, Lake View will be at Johnsonville at 5:30 p.m., and on Thursday, March 27, the Wild Gators will be back at home to host Marion.
