The Dillon Christian School Warriors picked up wins over North Myrtle Beach and The King’s Academy last week but fell to Carolina Academy in boys varsity basketball action.
The Warriors kicked off the week’s action when they hosted North Myrtle Beach Christian on Monday, February 3, for a 79-39 win.
Dillon Christian took a 23-13 lead in the first quarter and went 17-14 in the second for a 40-27 lead at half-time. The Warriors widened the gap even further with a 28-4 third quarter and sealed with win with an 11-8 fourth.
Tyler Davis led the Warriors with a game-high 19 points, including a three-pointer and four of four free throws, and also picked up 10 rebounds with an assist, a steal, and a block. Jim Carr added 14 points in the win with four three-pointers and four assists, and Luke Price scored 10 points with four rebounds and three assists.
Will Brown added nine points for the Warriors with a three-pointer, nine assists, eight steals, two blocks, and four rebounds; Mark Minges earned eight points with five rebounds, five steals, and an assist; Matthew Price earned eight points with four offensive rebounds and two steals; Matt Jordan scored five points with three rebounds; Thomas Evans scored three points with three defensive rebounds, two steals, and one assist; and Ellison Rourke added three points with three assists and a steal.
North Myrtle Beach was led by Eric Stanley with 11 points and Joseph Mabry with 10. Michael Carson added 7 points; Peter Kauten, 5; Josh Mabry, 3, and Ryan York, 3. York picked up nine rebounds in the effort, Kauten made four assists, and Carson made three steals.
On Tuesday, the Warriors traveled to Carolina Academy where they fell 53-36 to the Bobcats.
Carolina took a 13-4 lead in the first quarter and both teams added seven in the second quarter and 17 in the third to give the Bobcats a 37- 28 lead. Carolina outscored the Warriors 16-8 in the fourth to seal the win.
Tyler Davis led the Warriors in the effort with a team-high 22 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks, with an assist and a steal. Mark Minges added five points with seven defensive rebounds, four steals, a block, and an assist; Will Brown scored three points with two assists and two steals; Luke Price scored three points with eight rebounds; and Thomas Evans added three points with three defensive rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Matthew Price also grabbed one defensive rebound.
On Friday, the Warriors traveled to Florence to take on The King’s Academy for a 50-49 win.
The Warriors took a narrow 14-13 lead in the first quarter but jumped ahead with a 13-4 second quarter to lead 27-17 at the half. The Lions rallied in the third at 17-15 and were on track to out pace the Warriors in the fourth, but with seven seconds on the clock, Will Brown hit a free throw to allow the Warriors to retain the win.
Tyler Davis earned 17 points in the game to lead the Warriors and give him over 1,000 career points. He grabbed 12 rebounds in the win and made six blocks and one assist.
Jim Carr added 16 points for the Warriors with one offensive rebound and one steal. Matthew Price earned nine points with 10 rebounds, two steals, and a block; Will Brown added four points with eight assists, two rebounds, three steals, and a block; Matt Jordan scored two points with six rebounds, two steals, and an assist; and Mark Minges added two points with eight rebounds, three steals, and one block.
The King’s Academy’s Christopher Dean also passed 1,000 career points in Friday’s game.
The Warriors improved to 10-6 overall and 7-6 in SCISA Region 4-2A.
