Reverend Rodney L. McCorkle, a minister of 24 years, has been selected as pastor of Manning Baptist Church.
Before accepting the pastorate at Manning Baptist Church, Reverend McCorkle was senior pastor at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Loris. Other senior pastoral positions of Reverend McCorkle include churches in Mt. Holly and Charlotte, NC.
Reverend McCorkle was born and reared in Charlotte, NC where he attended and graduated from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, NC, and a Master of Divinity Degree from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA.
Presently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Theology and Church Leadership from Apex School of Theology, Durham, NC.
Reverend McCorkle says, “I have been given the gift to preach, and the scripture that guides my life is Luke 4:18, 19, ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of God’s favor’”
He is the son of Mr. Johnny McCorkle and Mrs. Josephine Moore, also the stepson of Mr. Turner Moore.
He is the first of the McCorkle family to be called into the ministry.
Reverend McCorkle is the father of two children: Kristen and Rodney, Jr.
Installation services will be held for Reverend McCorkle on February 22 and 23.
The church family will host a drop-in reception in the fellowship hall on February 22 for the members and the Dillon community, and on February 23, the official installation service will be conducted.
