The Dillon Wildcats picked up a 62-33 win over Aynor at home on Tuesday night to open region play in boys basketball action.
Dillon took a 12-9 lead in the first quarter and was ahead 22-16 at the half. After outpacing the Blue Jackets 14-7 in the third, the Wildcats poured in 24 points in the fourth to seal the win.
Anthony Blue, Eri’Reon Hayes, and Gabe Salmon, Jr., each earned a game-high 12 points to lead Dillon with Lawrence Crouch adding seven points in the win. Avery McCall, Joe Manning, and JaQuan Knowlin each contributed four points; Jalik Bethea added three; and Julius Saunders and Tyreik McAllister each earned two points.
Zack Jenerette and Jackson Woody each scored eight points and Austin Windham added seven to lead Aynor. Nathan Peeples scored four, and Brandon Young and Adam Doyle each earned three points.
The Wildcats improved to 12-2 overall and started conference play with a 1-0 record in Region 8-2A. Aynor slipped to 8-4 and is now 0-1 in the region.
Dillon will be on the road this Friday to face Mullins, but the Wildcats will be back home next week to host Marion on Tuesday, January 21, and Loris on Friday, January 24. Game times are set for 6:00 p.m.
