Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators fell 81-32 to Timmonsville in the Lady Whirlwinds Invitational preseason basketball tournament.

Lake View was lead by Olivia McDaniels with a team-high 18 points. Jasmine Ford added eight and Kayla Page scored six for the Lady Gators.

Timmonsville was led by Justice Gee with 28 points and Sade Eli with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. In preseason polls, Eli was named as one of the elite players in the state in Class A girls basketball, and both Eli and Gee are considered two of the best in the Pee Dee. Eli was also named the Class A Player of the Year last season.

Also scoring for the Lady Whirlwinds, Alaya Woods added 15 points, Selena LeGette scored 12, Erica Ervin added six, and Shania Wright earned five.

Lake View’s Coach Larry Inman, now in his second year with the Lady Gators, says that the team is still young but most of them are returning from last season and should be more experienced this year. Key returners include Tranya Ford, who averaged 16 points per game last season; Olivia McDaniel with 15 points per game; and Jasmine Ford with 12 points per game. The Lady Gators also returned Diayah Williams, Desiree Strickland, Kayla Page, Taylor Bethea, Pamela Butler, Zaria Washington, Shanae Carmichael, and Toni Nash, and welcomed newcomer Nyesia Bethea.

The Lady Gators were scheduled to host East Clarendon to open the regular season on Wednesday night. Lake View will be at home next week to host Loris on Wednesday, December 11, and Dillon on Friday, December 13, with both games scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
