Lake View’s Wild Gators took a 48-0 loss from the Class 3A Socastee Braves on the road on Friday night in varsity football action.

Socastee scored 20 points in the first quarter, beginning with a 54-yard touchdown pass from Hunter Renfrow to Maxwell Kjosa. Renfrow’s kick put the Braves up 7-0 with 10:19 left in the first. Delano Walters rushed 14-yards for the next touchdown, but the kick failed. With 2:19 left in the quarter, Kjosa scored on a 49-yard pass from Renfrow and Renfrow nailed the kick for a 20-0 lead.

In the second quarter, the Braves brought in Jordan Hodge as the starting quarterback, but the next score came from an 8-yard pass from Renfrow to McKenzie Pickney. Cole Renfrow went for the extra point but failed. Angelo Sauter added another six points on a 2-yard rush, and this time Renfrow nailed the kick to put the Braves up 33-0. With 33 seconds left in the half, Walters got his second touchdown on a 17-yard rush and Hodge completed the pass for the conversion to leave Socastee up 41-0.

After a scoreless third, Hodge wrapped up the game with a 7-yard rush with 1:03 left on the clock. The kick was good, sealing the 48-0 win for the Braves.

Lake View made it to the 10-yard line with less than five minutes on the clock, but the Gators were stopped with a turnover on downs to end the threat.

The Braves remain undefeated for the season at 4-0 while the Wild Gators will be looking for their first win of the season this Friday, September 27, when they are scheduled to host the Military Magnet Eagles. The Eagles are 2-2 heading into the game. Game time is 7:30 p.m., so make plans to attend to support our local team!
