Lake View’s #2 Weston Rogers carries around the end for a touchdown.
The Wild Gators were blown away by the visiting Golden Tornadoes on Friday as Fairmont picked up a 40-8 win over Lake View.

Fairmont opened the game with a touchdown, recovering a fumbled hand off by Lake View on the Wild Gators’ 40-yard line. A completed pass earned the Tornadoes their first touchdown of the night, but the conversion failed with Lake View’s Christian McDaniel bringing down the Fairmont runner for a loss. Two fumbles gave Lake View control of the ball, but the Fairmont defense forced Lake View to fight for every yard, limiting them to small gains.

Lake View earned two points on a safety at the start of the second quarter, and the Wild Gators returned the kickoff to Fairmont’s 27-yard line. Lake View picked up a first down on the 18-yard line but took a loss on the next play. On their next possession, Fairmont carried for small gains and then threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to put them up 12-2. Another completed pass scored the conversion for the Tornadoes for a 14-2 lead.

Lake View recovered another fumble in the second and Weston Rogers carried around the end to score the only touchdown of the night for the Wild Gators. The two-point conversion failed, leaving the Gators trailing 14-8 at halftime.

Fairmont scored three touchdowns in the third, but only managed to complete one conversion for 20 points in the quarter, widening the lead to 34-8. The Golden Tornadoes scored their final touchdown with 11:45 left in the game for the final score of 40-8.

Shemar Barfield made four touchdown catches for Fairmont and Frederique Baldwin and Shyheim Hines each made rushing touchdowns. The Fairmont offense made six turnovers in the game, but the defense put in their best performance of the year.

The Golden Tornadoes improved to 4-0 in non-conference play. Lake View is 0-3 so far this season.
