Latta’s #21 R.J. McClam scores his first touchdown run of the night on the way to a 28-0 win over East Clarendon.
The Latta Vikings picked up their first big win of the season on Friday, August 30, as they shut out the East Clarendon Wolverines 28-0.

Latta’s R.J. McClam scored three touchdowns for the Vikings, getting the first in the first quarter on a 3-yard run. The second came on a 6-yard run in the second quarter, and his third came on a four-yard run in the third.

Latta’s Chris Gray scored the final touchdown for the Vikings, recovering a blocked punt in the end zone, and Chase Ray kicked in all four extra points for the final score of 28-0.

McClam rushed for 239 yards on 23 carries for the Vikings.

On defense, Donell Stanley made 10 tackles and C.J. Mace made an interception.

It was the first game of the season for the Wolverines, who returned only three seniors from last season.

The Vikings improve to 1-1 for the season and will be on the road to face the Class AA Dillon Wildcats on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
