The Latta Vikings finished 11th overall in the SCHSL 2013 Class A State Golf Tournament held at the Pinecrest Golf Course in Bluffton, South Carolina on Monday, May 6, and Tuesday, May 7.
Latta’s Smith Gaddy finished 28th overall, scoring an 88 in the first round and 96 in the second for a total of 184. Steven Lane shot a 104 and a 96 to finish 43rd with a 200, and Josh Mitchell tied for 45th, shooting a 100 and 101 for a total of 201. Cody Hyatt shot a 112 and 91 for a total of 203 to tie at 51st, and Kel Williamson shot a 106 in both rounds for a score of 212 to finish 64th. The combined team total was 782.
Christ Church’s Jackson Weede shot a 73 and 75 to lead all golfers with a total of 148. Christ Church finished first overall with a team total of 613 with all five golfers finishing in the top 15.
St. Joseph’s Catholic had three golfers in the top five with Bradley Kauffman in second, Christian Baliker tying for third, and Justin Finigan finishing fifth. The Knights took second with a team total of 623.
Great Falls, Greer Middle, and Southside Christian rounded out the top five teams, with Ware Shoals and Greenville Tech tying for sixth. East Clarendon, Williston Elko, and Brashier MC finished out the top 10.
Weede, Kauffman, Baliker, and Finigan were all named All State, along with Chase Cale, Stephon Reynolds, Justin Muller, Michael McKee, Josh Payseur, and Stuart Gibbs.
