After battling their way through a double-header to claim the District VIII title on Wednesday, Dillon fell 4-3 to Loris on Friday night in the Class AA baseball playoffs.
In Wednesday’s action, Dillon hosted Waccamaw and dropped the first game 5-3, forcing a second game where the Wildcats managed to shut out the Warriors 10-0.
On Friday, the Wildcats traveled to Loris and fell 4-3 to the Lions in the first round of the lower state playoffs.
Patrick Herring took the loss on the mound for Dillon, while Tanner Cox earned the win, pitching five innings for seven hits, two runs, one earned run, one walk, and four outs. Tanner Chock got the save, pitching two innings for one run, one walk, and two outs.
Dillon’s Tripp Wallace went 2-for-3 to lead the Wildcats at bat, and Omar McCollum went 1-for-4 with two runs.
Ryan Bellamy went 2-for-4 with two runs and Tanner Chock went 2-for-3 with a RBI to lead Loris. Bryson Daniels, Tanner Cox, and Whitt Rivenbark each went 1-for-3 for the Lions, and Austin Hord picked up one run and one RBI.
The Wildcats were scheduled to travel to Woodland on Monday night while Bishop England was scheduled to host Loris. If Dillon wins Monday, they will face the loser of the Bishop England/Loris game on Wednesday, while the winner of that game will advance to the lower state championship on Friday.
