Dillon’s Lady Wildcats shut out the Lady Blue Jackets 15-0 with four home runs in five innings on Tuesday night in Aynor.
The Wildcats scored in all five innings, getting one run in the first, two in the second, five in the fith, three in the fourth, and four in the fifth inning.
Darby Hamer picked up the win on the mound, pitching all five innings and allowing just four hits with one walk and six outs.
Shelby Culler took the loss for Aynor, pitching four innings for 11 runs, nine hits, three walks, and two outs.
Tara Grimsley, Taylor Price, Erin Bailey, and Da’Kerhia Samuel each had a home run for the Wildcats. Grimsley went went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored; Price went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored; Bailey went 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored; and Samuel went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
Also at bat for the Wildcats, Shayna Covington went 2-for-4 with a RBI, a stolen base, and three runs scored; Shaquailla German went 1-for-2 with a double, three RBIs, and one run scored; Darby Hamer went 1-for-4; Ma’Kayla Drake went 1-for-2 with one run scored; Shar’Asia Samuel went 1-for-1 with a RBI, a stolen base, and one run scored; Rebecca Callahan scored one run; and Candace Powers had a stolen base.
The Wildcats had 14 hits and two errors in the win.
Shaquailla German made three put outs in the field and Taylor Price made three assists. Grimsley, Hamer, Callahan, Bailey, Drake, Shar’Asia Samuel, and Leah McMillan each made one put out. Bailey also made one assist.
Shelby Culler led Aynor at bat with a double. The Lady Blue Jackets had four hits and two errors in the loss.
Dillon improved to 17-3 overall and 8-1 in Region 8-2A while Aynor slipped to 5-3 in the region. The Lady Wildcats were still ranked number one in the state in Class 2A softball in the latest coaches poll. Crescent, Andrew Jackson, and Buford were next, and Barnwell and Waccamaw were tied for fifth place.
The Lady Wildcats have a strong roster this season with all three Wildcat pitchers, German, Price, and Hamer, holding just one loss each. German and Hamer have six wins each, and Price has five wins, and German and Price have allowed only 13 hits each this season. German has struck out 64 batters in 35.3 innings pitched so far this season, and Hamer has struck out 50 in 44.6 innings.
At bat, German has hit four home runs while Hamer has three and Grimsley has two. German has picked up 30 RBIs and Grimsley brought in 25, while Covington has made 32 hits with 17 stolen bases this season.
