Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators picked up a 7-4 win over the Lady Flashes in Johnsonville on Tuesday night for their second region win of the season.
Lake View scored their first run in the top of the second inning and added three in the third and two in the fourth to lead 5-0. Johnsonville got two runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth, but neither team could score in the fifth or sixth innings. The Flashes managed two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Lady Gators scored one in the top of the inning to take home the 7-4 win.
Morgan Herlong got the win on the mound, pitching four innings for four hits, one run, one earned run, and two outs. Ashley Hanna took the loss for the Flashes, pitching all seven innings for 12 hits, seven runs, four earned runs, and four outs.
Marissa Tyndall led Lake View at bat, going 4-for-4 with a double, and Amber Locklear went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. The Wild Gators had 12 hits and four errors in the win.
Alyssa Hinson went 3-for-4 with a RBI to lead Johnsonville at bat. megan Powell went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Johnsonville’s Hanna went 2-for-4.
Johnsonville slipped to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in Region 8A, while Lake View improved to 11-4 and 2-3 in the region. In this week’s state coaches poll, the Lady Gators were ranked ninth, just ahead of Latta, who ranked 10th. Johnsonville was ranked sixth, with Green Sea-Floyds in eighth. East Clarendon topped the list with Lewisville, Dixie, St. Joseph, and Fox Creek rounding out the top five and Wagener-Salley in seventh.
Lake View’s Lady Gators are scheduled to host Green Sea-Floyds this Friday, April 12, at 5:30 p.m. Then on Monday, The Gators will host Dillon for a double-header beginning at 5:00 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
