Latta’s Lady Vikings and Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators were both eliminated from the Class A Lower State playoffs on Monday night.
The Lady Vikings, who finished the season with an undefeated 10-0 record in the region and were ranked as the number one team in Class A, had a tough time against Region 7A’s Carvers Bay, taking a slim lead in the first quarter before the Bears tied things in the third. Latta’s Maya Wright amde two free throws with four seconds on the clock to put the Vikings ahead 56-55, but Carvers Bay’s Jasmine Cobb scored a layup as time expire to give Carvers Bay the win at 57-56.
Carvers Bay will move on to face Denmark-Olar on Thursday while Latta ends the season with a 17-3 record.
Meanwhile, Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators fell 71-23 to Region 7A champ Timmonsville. Timmonsville took a 22-5 lead in the first quarter and never let up. Lake View finishes the season 5-13. Timmonsville will advance to face Estill on Thursday night.
Region 8A’s Johnsonville and Hannah-Pamplico were also eliminated on Friday night. The Lady Flashes fell 70-49 to C.E. Murray, while the Lady Raiders fell 45-30 to Hemingway. Cross will host Hemingway on Thursday and C.E. Murray will be at Whale Branch.
