Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors fell 52-28 to the visiting Marlboro Academy Dragons on Monday night.
Junior varsity action kicked off the evening with the JV Warriors defeating Marlboro Academy 27-26.
Then the Lady Warriors held senior night ceremonies, recognizing Lauren Lee, Amanda Bass, Kylee Sullivan, and Kathryn Brown.
When the girls’ game got under way, Marlboro Academy took control quickly, scoring 8 points in the first two and a half minutes. The Lady Warriors were plagued with turnovers and only got in their first shot with 4:45 left in the quarter. Lauren Lee scored the first points for the Warriors with a pair of free throws and sank a two-pointer with 1:05 left in the period to leave the Warriors down 24-4 at the end of the first.
Lee was the first to score in the second and Sarah Fitzgibbon and Amanda Bass each sank two-pointers to leave the Warriors trailing 30-10, but the Warriors were down 36-11 at the half.
Bass scored again in the third and sank a three-pointer, and Lee scored again and sank two free throws to help the Warrior effort. But Marlboro added six points in the quarter to stay well ahead at 42-22 heading into the fourth. The Dragons would hold onto the lead through the fourth, outscoring Dillon Christian 10-6 in the period for the 52-28 win.
Lee led the Lady Warriors with 10 points and Bass scored five with Fitzgibbon adding two and Kathryn Brown sinking one free throw in the loss.
The Lady Warriors were scheduled to host Christian Academy on Tuesday and will be at Pee Dee Academy on Friday to wrap up the regular season with junior varsity action beginning at 4:00 p.m.
