The Latta Police Department has arrested one person in connection with a burglary/breaking and entering at the construction site of the new Latta Early Childhood Development Center on Academy Street.
Billy Lee Dean, 22, has been charged with burglary-second degree, according to a booking report from the Dillon County Detention Center.
According to a report by PFC Anthony Britt, between Dec. 16-17, Latta police officers were called to the construction site where they were told that several trailers at the back of the site had been broken into. The locks had been cut off the trailers and equipment had been taken.
This belonged to different companies. Britt was assisted by Cpl. Patrick Cashwell at the scene.
By the next day, Chief Crystal Moore and her officers had recovered over $15,000 worth of stolen items.
Chief Moore said she would like to thank the public for their help in this case.
A black 20 ft. Hoffman trailer has still not been recovered. Anyone with any information about the location of this trailer or about this case is asked to call the Latta Police
