Latta’s boys and girls cross country teams competed in the SCHSL state cross country championships on Saturday, November 3, in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Latta boys finished 10th overall with a total 309. Latta’s Jeremiah Hayes was 39th overall with a time of 19:24.13; Nic Fincannon was 59th at 21:49.74; Smith Gaddy was 67th at 22:10.42; Sam Sellers was 69th with a time of 22:24.94; and Davis Davon was 75th with a time of 25:25.11. Jordan Hayes also ran for Latta and finished 80th at 27:11.71.

St. Joseph’s claimed the team championship with a team total of 51 and a total time of 87:29.11. Christ Church was second and Greer Middle College was third.

James Quattlebaum of Christ Church was the top runner in the individual standings, finishing in first place with a time of 15:50.15. Thomas Melanson of the Governor’s Schools was second with a time of 16:25.15 and Ben Sessions of Greenville Tech Charter was third at 16:42.95.

In the girls cross country championship, Latta finished 12th with at team total of 298. Jessica Evans was 19th overall with a time of 22:04.84. Katie Williams was 63rd at 26:43.41; Lily Carter was #71 at 29:52.61; Maddy Long was #72 at 31:46.79; and Kelsey Perry was #73 at 31:47.15.

St. Joseph’s also claimed the girls championship with a total of 26 and a team total time of 100:58.08. Christ Church was second and Southside Christian finished third.

Caroline Jennings of Christ Church finished first in the individual standings with a time of 18:55.09. Keyes Gilmer, Sara Catheri Masaschi, and Carol Lewis, all of St. Joseph’s, took the second, third, and fourth spots respectively. Mary Chandler of Southside Christian finished fifth with a time of 20:26.17.
