For 90 years, the Dillon Church of God has been a beacon to the community and surrounding areas of Dillon County. This church has a rich history and continues to grow with each passing year. Our church has celebrated this milestone event with several celebrations since mid September. The children’s ministry department and the youth ministry department, led by Pastors Corey and Shelly Rogers and Pastors Trey and Becky Thompson, hosted a special party during a Wednesday night service in which the classes learned about history of the church and were able to enjoy cake and ice cream.  The senior adult ministry, led by Chaplain Ronnie Stone, enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by the staff at Shoney’s of Dillon.  During the luncheon, the senior adults were blessed with a message from former pastor of the Dillon Church of God, Brother Thomas Ashley. A wonderful time was had by all in attendance.
This weekend, November 3rd and 4th, is the “Grand Celebration Weekend” in which the church has wonderful activities planned.  On Saturday, November 3rd, the church will host a ticketed, catered meal and Celebration Concert at the Youth and Activity campus.  This event has sold out and it promises to be a treat! The concert will be a “Gaither Style” show featuring music from each decade and the voices of many church favorites from the recent past, including former ministers and church friends.  On Sunday, November 4th, the Churchwide Celebration Service will take place and we would love to invite the community to join us and rejoice with us on this day.  Services start at 10:30 am and a nursery will be provided for children 3 and under. Former General Overseer of the Church of God, Bishop Dennis McGuire will be addressing the congregation and there will be special videos of interviews with church members sharing their thoughts and memories of the
church through the years. After the service is over on Sunday, everyone is invited to enjoy a cake and punch social and fellowship with one another.
How wonderful that this awesome church is still standing after 90 years and remains a symbol of hope for future generations. We hope that you choose come out and enjoy the festivities on Sunday at 10:30 with us, but if you are unable to join us, we ask for your prayers for a wonderful time of fellowship and the continued success of this great church.
