The Latta Vikings ran in 34 points in the first quarter on their way to a 41-8 win over the Creek Bridge Warriors in Marion on Friday night.

R.J. McClam led the Vikings with four touchdowns, three of which came in the first quarter. McClam scored first on a 28-yard run with a failed kick. Later in the quarter he scored on a 5-yard run and a 41-yard run, and in the second quarter he scored on a 68-yard run. McClam rushed for a total of 159 yards on eight carries.

Josh McGirt and Brandon Moultrie also scored for Latta in that big first quarter. McGirt caught a 19-yard pass and Moultrie scored on a 2-yard pass, both from quarterback Kel Williamson. Williamson went 3 for 3 with 45 yards through the air.

Chase Ray hit five out of six extra point kicks to complete the Viking victory.

On defense, Neil Melvin made two fumble recoveries and Ken’Che Page made an interception.

Creek Bridge scored their only run in the fourth quarter on a 45-yard pass with a successful two-point conversion.

Latta now sports a 3-3 overall and a 1-0 record in Region 8A. Creek Bridge is 1-5 overall in their first region matchup.
