Latta’s junior varsity Vikings defeated the JV Wild Gators 24-12 on Thursday, September 13, in Lake View.
Latta’s offense started slow, but Lake View started with a touchdown in the first half to lead 6-0. The Wild Gators scored again at the start of the second half, but Latta stormed back to score 24 unanswered points to win the game 24-12.
The quarterback for the junior varsity Vikings is ninth-grader Colby Lee. Lee has scored one touchdown run for the JV Vikings this season and also runs some back up for the varsity squad.
Splitting the time at the running back position are ninth-graders Kartilus McFadden, who has four touchdowns on the season, and CJ Mace who has one touch down for the JV Vikings. At fullback, the Vikings are led by ninth-graders Jackson Williams who has one touchdown this season on JV and a defensive touchdown for the varsity squad; Jonathan Ray, who also plays varsity linebacker; and Joncorious Wilson.
On defense, the line is anchored by nose guard Ryheem McDaniel, who leads the team in tackles and sacks, and corners Chakeem Blake and Davonta Porter.
It’s the second win for the JV Vikings, who shutout Hannah Pamplico on September 6 to give them a 2-0 record this season.
