In the mayor’s report at the Dillon City Council’s September meeting, Mayor Todd Davis said the city needed to think about what they planned to do with the vacant lots on Main Street, which were formerly occupied by the Dilmar buildings.
The buildings were torn down by the city despite protests from some citizens including a local developer, who wanted a chance to revitalize the buildings.
Davis said he would like to think about what they are going to do with the buildings and what their intentions are.
They are taking bids on grass and decorative fencing for the area.
City Manager Glen Wagner said they had been looking a sod but that would require irrigation. He said that he thought the best thing to do was to get some rye and spread it. He said the fence may be something similar to what is at Lockemy Courtyard on MacArthur Avenue. He said this will have to go before the Board of Architectural Review (BAR).
Davis said he hoped by the next meeting they could start making a decision about what to do with the property.
