Dillon’s Jamie Callahan picked up his first minor league win on the mound for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox this weekend against the GCL Twins.

Callahan made his debut on the mound for the GCL Red Sox on July 31, pitching a scoreless inning with one out against the GCL Orioles. Callahan started on the mound, striking out first batter Adrian Marin, while the next two flew out to right and center. The Red Sox took a 12-2 win with 15 hits.

On August 6, he started on the mound to face the Orioles again for 1.2 innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs with one out. The Red Sox trailed most of the game but tied things up in the ninth and scored again in the 11th for a 6-5 win.

On Saturday, August 11, Callahan pitched the second and third innings against the GCL Twins, allowing one hit, He walked Joel Licon and struck out Zach Larson to pick up the win on the mound. The Red Sox won the game 6-3 to take first place in the Gulf Coast League South with a 27-21 record.

With a total of 4.2 innings pitched in his rookie season, Callahan now has a 1-0 record and a 5.79 ERA. The GCL season continues through August 25.
