Dear Editor:
Last evening we happened upon a wrenching scene. Identical young-looking, black dogs (possibly labs) were mauling a cat. We ran the dogs away and tried to give aid and comfort to the cat, moving the cat to shelter out of the rain.
We found that veterinary help was not available, as the clinic was closed. Minutes later, the horribly injured cat drew its final breath.
We do not know where the dogs went nor to whom the dogs or the cat belong. The cat was a beautiful soft, smoky grey with white paws and white under the chin and neck.
The cat’s mauling and death left us shaken and terribly sad, but thankfully it was not a child.
Sincerely,
Helen B. Moffett
