Services for Branford Edgar Townsend was held 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Mr. Townsend, 77, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his residence.
Born in Dillon County, April 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Alphonso Edgar Townsend and Christine Stone Townsend. He was a member of Dillon First Baptist Church, and was the Owner of Star Shoe Shop.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Jackson Townsend of Dillon; children, Timmy (Sheila) Townsend, Bunky (Nancy) Townsend, Jason M. Townsend, Debbie (Jerry) Wellington, all of Dillon, and Eddie (Ann) Townsend of Bingham; brothers, Jerry (Jean) Townsend of Jacksonville, NC, and Larry (Emma Jean) Townsend of High Point, NC; sister, Mary Taylor of Stantonburg, NC; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; special friends, James Summerford, Chris Williamson, and Paul Gaddy, all of Dillon.
Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by his grandson, Brad Townsend; and his brother, Gilbert Townsend.
