Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators were shut out 10-0 by East Clarendon’s Wolverines in the first round of softball playoffs on Thursday, but swept Baptist Hill 19-0 in three innings on Saturday to stay alive in the tournament.
On Thursday, the Lady Wolverines got off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added five runs in the third and two each in the fourth and fifth for the 10-0 win. East Clarendon had 10 hits in the win while holding Lake View to two hits with two errors.
Kaitlin Alexander picked up the win for the Wolverines in two innings, with three outs and one walk. Morgan Herlong took the loss for Lake View, pitching five innings for 10 hits, 10 runs, eight earned runs, two walks, and one out.
Morgan Herlong and Chelsea Spivey each went 1-for-2 for Lake View.
Jordan Evans went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead East Clarendon, with D’Onna McFadden going 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs. Kaitlin Alexander and Grayson Smith each went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Leslie Altman went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
On Saturday, Lake View traveled to take on Baptist Hill and swept the Bobcats 19-0 in just three innings. Lake View scored nine runs in the top of the first and added five each in the second and third off of 14 hits.
Kayla Sanderson pitched a no-hitter for Lake View, allowing just one walk while striking out four. Nagwood took the loss for Baptist Hill.
Kayla Sanderson also led Lake VIew at bat, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs, and Amber Locklear went 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
The Lady Wild Gators were 11-12 overall as they headed into Monday night’s game against Allendale-Fairfax’s Lady Tigers. The winner of the game will travel to face East Clarendon on Wednesday, May 2 at 6:00 p.m.
