Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators fell 5-3 to the Lady Flashes in Johnsonville on Monday, April 16.

Lake View scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but Johnsonville scored three in the bottom to take an early lead. Both teams held each other off until the bottom of the fourth, when Johnsonville scored two runs to widen the lead to 5-2. Lake View added one run in the top of the seventh, but the couldn’t catch up before the game ended.

Ashley Hanna picked up the win for Johnsonville, pitching all seven innings for nine hits, three runs, three unearned runs, one walk, and five outs. Lake View’s Kayla Sanderson took the loss, pitching six innings for eight hits, five runs, four earned runs, and five outs.

Megan Powell led Johnsonville at bat, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Marla Young and Macey Powell each went 2-for-3.

Kateland Cox and Kayla Sanderson led Lake View at bat, each going 2-for-4. The Lady Gators had nine hits in the loss.

Lake View faced Latta on Friday for a 3-0 loss, and was scheduled to close out the regular season on Monday against South Robeson. Results from the game were not reported at press time. The Lady Gators were 10-10 overall and 4-6 heading into the game.

State playoffs begin tonight with Lake View traveling to face East Clarendon at 6:00 p.m.
